1 Package (8 ounces) chopped dates
2 Tablespoon water
1 Teaspoon vanilla
2 Cup flour
2 Cup oatmeal
1 1/2 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 Cup butter, softened
2 Cup powdered sugar
1 Package (12 ounces) cranberries
2 1/2 Tablespoon orange juice


In covered saucepan over low heat, simmer cranberries, dates and water until cranberries pop. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and cut in butter. Pat 1/2 of the dough in a 9 by 13-inch greased baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Spoon cranberry mixture over base and sprinkle rest of oat mixture over and bake 25 to 30 minutes more. Prepare glaze with powdered sugar, orange juice and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Cool bars and drizzle glaze over all.
