1 1/2 Cup boiling water
1 Cup oatmeal
1/2 Cup shortening
1 1/2 Cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/2 Cup cocoa
1 Cup flour


Add boiling water to oatmeal and set aside to cool. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, salt, baking soda and cocoa. Alternate adding the flour and the cooled oatmeal. Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Top with your favorite frosting.
